Am I Covered by Blue Cross, Manulife and Sunlife etc?
Well, yes and no. Registered Counselling Therapists (RCT) in Nova Scotia are covered by Blue Cross, Manulife Great West Life, Green Shield, Belmont, Desjardin and Sunlife. But its not these companies that decide eligibility, its the agreement these companies have with YOUR company that makes the difference. Your company may restrict counselling services to psychologists and social workers only. Others include RCTs. Or the contract may say that only Yak herders from the North East Corner of the Himalayas are qualified. If that is the agreement, Blue Cross, Manulife and Sunlife honour it. The Nova Scotia College of Counselling Therapists has directly obtained recognition with these companies. If your company is not listed, talk to your benefits person and have them include RCTs.
